Squid

Squid are cephalopods, soft-bodied relatives of octopuses with eight arms, two longer tentacles and a beak-like mouth. They zoom through the ocean by jet propulsion and can change color in an instant. Our profile of the vampire squid, a deep-sea cousin that lives where oxygen is scarce, explains its glowing body, cloak-like webbing and gentle diet of drifting marine snow.
